All You Need To Know About Nokia Lumia 920

When the world is busy talking about the Apples and the Samsungs, here is Nokia silently making some statement with its new phone Lumia 920,
Nokia is still alive and kicking!

Nokia, the former No: 1 in the mobile market has come up with the new Windows phone 8 powered Smart Phone, Nokia Lumia 920.Not just for Nokia , this launch means a lot to Microsoft as this will be the first Nokia smart phone with the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS.

Yes,Microsoft’s official partner Nokia didn't release the first WP8 phone,Samsung cunningly stolen the momentum with its ATIV S handset.
Samsung -1 Nokia-0,again!

Microsoft will soon be launching the much-anticipated Windows8 OS, a complete change in look of their operating system that brings with it a lot more flexibility, powerful and a bunch of other features. Both Nokia and Microsoft need it to be a hit!

Now, let’s look at some key features.

Wireless charger

Lumia 920 comes with a 32GB of internal storage space and takes Windows Phone into dual-core territory with a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor. Surprisingly, there isn’t any microSD card slot. It also comes with 1GB of RAM and 2000mAh battery to help power things along. Wireless charger, rather than plugging anything into the phone, you simply place the Lumia 920 on top of a mouse-sized charging pad to wirelessly give it the power.

Windows Phone 8

The Windows Phone 8 software is excellent , the new OS has all the features to attract people, atlas Microsoft finds something live for a Smart Phone. Long way to go, though. Its start screen has been upgraded to use space more effectively, live tiles offer constant updates. All features are well packaged to make sure that the OS is new and refreshing.

Camera

The buzz is all about this, 'PureView'. Remember the recent Nokia 808 PureView with 41 MP camera? Yes, but Lumia 920 comes with a mere 8.7 MP camera but the photos are amazing, thanks to 'floating lens technology'. You don’t need to worry about the shaky, blurry pictures you take, this floating lens technology can compensate for shaky hands, plus it can capture up to ten times more light than other Smartphone cameras, which should lead to brighter, blur free images. It's a Carl Zeiss lens too, which means cleaner and sharper images. There's also a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, capable of recording 720p video, making it a good fit for Skype and the like.

Puremotion HD+

The phone comes with a  1280x768 ,4.5 inches curved-glass WXGA display which is not so big as its older version Lumia 900 came with 4.3 inches display. But there is something which Lumia 900 doesn’t have, nor any other phones , 'PureMotion HD+'. Nokia claims that this will provide a “better than HD” experience. It’s 25% brighter than the brightest smart phone display on the market. It can detect how much light is hitting the screen and automatically adjust the colours in direct sunlight so that you can still see the display.

Sensitive Touch Screen

The display is 'super sensitive' to the touch, allowing you to interact with the Nokia Lumia 920 using gloves or long finger nails. The promotion video shows user using car key to interact with the phone and claims that the phone is scratch resistive. Incidentally it has a pixel density of 332ppi, beating both the retina-display iPhone 4S's 326ppi and Lumia 900’s 217 ppi.

City Lens

This new reality feature of the phone displays information such as restaurant names and other points of interest when you point the phone at them. City Lens is integrated with Nokia Maps, if you bring up directions on the map and then hold your phone up to the street, the directions will show up in front of you. Nokia Drive is integrated with the mapping software too so you can save maps for offline viewing. Nokia Maps is further boosted by Nokia Transport which displays public transport information, including multiple routes and times for buses and trains.

Nokia has put in a lot of its efforts into this phone hoping that the company can compete against the two OS giants in the Smartphone market, Android and iOS. And if you are thinking of  buy this phone, we do recommend you to wait till September 12,the official announcement of iPhone 5 is  coming.
