"There’s No Place Like Home" Shoes Will Take You Home!

There’s No Place Like Home

First, take a look at this clip from Wizard of Oz(1939), a musical fantasy film.

Yes, you guessed it rite, this shoe guides you to any destination.

Yet another milestone in the world of Wearable devices, ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ is a GPS enabled pair of shoes which can guide you to your destination.

Dominic Wilcox , a UK based designer is the man responsible for this GPS Shoes, he named the shoes the “No Place Like Home” shoes after Wizard of Oz’s famous line.

“I thought about the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and Dorothy and how she clicks her heels three times to get home, I thought, ‘Is it possible to make that real in some way using the technology that we have?” he said.

He did make that possible, thanks to technology, GPS!

So, here is how it works,

All you have to do is , connect the shoes to the PC, search for the destination in the map and save the address.

The address will be uploaded into the GPS through USB!

The heel in the left Shoe holds a small GPS unit that stores your destination address.

Unplug everything, wear the shoes, activate the system by clicking your heels together three times and start the journey.

Once activated, a series of LED lights on the top of the shoe which form a compass, point you in the direction of home.

The right shoe, which contains a progress bar, shows you how much further you need to go.

Wilcox made just one pair for the London Design Festival. "Right now, the shoes are just a prototype, but I need them to become a reality", he said.

Here is the official video, see this know how it works.

Oh God! Just like other wearable devices this too is still a prototype.

So, like Google Glass, tshirt OS and Bluetooth bulb this “There’s No Place Like Home” shoe too is not heading to stores anytime soon.
